What I'm doing right now. Honestly.
This page changes monthly. If the date above is older than that, I've been busy or lazy — either way, message me.
The point of a /now page is the friction it creates. If I can't explain what I'm doing in five lines, I probably don't actually know.
This week
- A WCAG-contrast checker for my design system. It runs in CI and just caught a real failure on the success token (3.30:1 in light mode). Without it, the manifest was lying.
- A new dashboard for Abadikan. Third pass. The first two looked great and didn't hold up. This one might.
- An essay called “The cost of a token you don't check.” Trying to make the boring CI story above feel less boring.
- Khoi Vinh's old blog archive. The man wrote about web standards in 2003 like they were going to matter in 2026. He was right.
- Khruangbin — Mordechai. On loop. It's what an idle CI pipeline sounds like in my head.
This month
- SyroPixel internal tools v3. Survived two rewrites. Finally as small as it should've been at v1. Funny how that goes.
- Cross-document view transitions and the Speculation Rules API. I want this site to feel SPA-fast without becoming an SPA.
- The urge to add a command palette. Six pages. There's nothing to navigate. It would be a lie about how much navigation this site actually needs.
- Not yet. But if you're a designer-engineer reading this in Jakarta or remote-aligned, drop me a line for next quarter.
This year
- Publish four long-form essays. Not five. Four good ones.
- Open-source one piece of design-system tooling that holds up to a stranger reading it cold.
- Mentor one designer through their first real token contract.
- Migrated this site to
light-dark(). Tokens.css went from 318 lines to 235. Quiet win. Felt good. - Daily writing streak. Forced cadence ate the standards. Replaced with: write only when I have something worth defending.
What I'm not doing
I'm not taking on freelance growth-mode dashboards this quarter. I'm not migrating to Tailwind v5 just because v5 exists. I'm not answering emails on the weekend. If it's urgent, it isn't.
Honestly? I'm also not doing “personal branding.” This site is me showing my work, not me selling myself. The line between those two things is thinner than I'd like, but I'm trying.
2026-04-30 · light-dark() refactor landed; this /now page replaces the inline section on the homepage.
2026-04-12 · added the contrast validator. Caught a real bug.
2026-03-28 · this page came online. First entry.
